Social Media Holiday Police

Social media reminded me that saying all I accomplished this year would be insensitive to those who simply survived the year.

Social media also reminded me that I shouldn’t post a Christmas tree surrounded by presents because someone else might not have any presents for various reasons and it’s also insensitive.

I understand the message people are trying to send here but I don’t necessarily think that people should be shamed for their accomplishments either. Maybe this is their year to shine after barely surviving for the last decade. And maybe everything isn’t all about you, “Cheryl”. <insert whatever name feels appropriate to you here>

Can’t we just learn to champion other people when they are winning, even when we are not?

Maybe Santa will bring you coping skills for when life doesn’t go your way…after all, it’s not too late to believe in the magic of Christmas.
