*sings* My, My, My…

It’s been awhile since I bored you all with a list, so…

1. Word enunciation: Are we getting a swimming pool or a stripper pole? Maybe both, if you ask me!

2. Do you remember those mirror pictures that you could win at carnivals? Are they still a thing? If not, I want them to make a comeback!

3. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ was just as good the second time. Everyone loved Rooster (myself included) and I also enjoyed Bob…but my favorite was Payback aka Lawrence from Insecure (If you haven’t watched either, do it). #IYKYK

4. Peacock made a reboot of Queer as Folk… it’s terrific.

5. If you know Ryle/Lily and Miles/Tate…feel free to recommend which Colleen Hoover book I should read next.

6. I have no sense of how old/young someone is just by looks these days. Is this what happens when you enter a different life phase? (we don’t say aging around here) I referred to an actor as an older man, only to find out that he is 3 years older than me.

7. If you ever wondered about what music makes me the most relaxed…it’s Billy Ocean. But I can still rap every word to Paul Revere by The Beastie Boys so don’t come for me.

8. Watching Stevie Nicks sing “I’ll follow you down ‘til the sound of my voice with haunt you” directly to Lindsey Buckingham will never get old.

9. If the only time you talk to someone on fb or otherwise is to wish them happy birthday because fb sent you a reminder to do so…you may want to make sure they are still among the living before you tell them to enjoy a blessed day. It’s cringey….

10. If I see you once a year and you comment on my beautiful rosy cheeks with things like…”what’s going on there?” and gesturing to your cheeks while making reference to my face. Please note: You’ve used your two strikes now and you only have one more left. You may want to pause before exhausting your third strike. #Pooper 💩

Bonus Round:

1. My second job is vacation hunting, planning, and taking said vacations.. Highly recommend! Ps…it doesn’t matter your price point, you can find getaways to almost anywhere for differing prices and amenities. “Work Courtney” is high strung and focused, on the other hand “Vacation Courtney” throws some clothes in a bag and she’s off. Life is about balance…and relaxation. I don’t do vacations with agendas/itineraries…that would feel too much like work.

2. Have you ever put on a perfume that was one of your favorites in high school and you are immediately transported back in time…this is also highly recommended, if you enjoy a trip down memory lane every now and again.

3. Porch and patio visits will always be some of my favorites, or maybe it’s the people sitting on them!

4. Fact: “Maturity is working through your trauma and not using it as a never ending excuse for poor behavior.”

5. Some professional advice for other federal agencies: As someone who has worked as a hiring manager and is currently an HR professional in the federal government…there is no excuse to wait months to offer someone a position after the interviews have concluded and there is no excuse to interview for positions when someone applied months ago. If this is your norm, do better. We’ve already moved on…no one wants to work in poorly managed places anymore.
